Healthy Snacks

September 7th, 2009

Instead of eating ice cream, cookies, sugared drinks and sodas, why not try incorporating fresh fruits and healthy snacks into your diet? I’ve come up with a list of foods that I think are a great way of eating healthy when you want a snack to get you to your next meal. Fruit smoothies are a very refreshing drink that can actually feel you up. Add strawberries, bananas and peaches to some ice or milk.

Sip on it slowly and feel yourself become energized. I like to freeze different kinds of fruits, cut up into cubes and then eat them on a stick like a fruit lollipop. Another healthy, tasty snack is a handful of raw nuts. My favorites are walnuts, cashews, and almonds. The nice thing about nuts is that they are easy to pack, eat and they fill you up. Try adding more cut up vegetables to your day as well. Plain popcorn is a great treat and gives your hands something to do to keep them busy.

Red Peppers For Fat Burning

September 5th, 2009

If you want to slim down, you should think about eating more vegetables. One vegetable that is very healthy is the red pepper. One of the main things red peppers are able to offer you is help in preventing eye problems. They say it may even help reduce the risk of a stroke and heart disease, and may even prevent cancer. Red peppers are native of the Americas, and have been used for over thousands of years as an important food and source of medicine.

Red peppers are one of the foods that is highest in anti-oxidants and it offers a great source of nutrients that prevent cancer and protect the heart. Red peppers contain a high level of vitamin C, even more than an orange. Red peppers contain lycopene, a carotenoid that may help to prevent, as mentioned above, certain kinds of cancers. Eating more vegetables will also help you lose weight. I like to eat red peppers raw cut up in salads. Stir-frying red peppers are a great way to eat this healthy vegetable without losing too many of the nutrients.

Lose Weight Fast

September 4th, 2009

It seems like everyone waits until the last minute to do anything. Proscratination is something that I definitely need to work on. So, you have a wedding coming up, or an important reunion. What to do? You want to drop ten pounds and fit into that special dress you have had your eye on at the department store. You could always starve yourself for ten days and lose ten pounds.

I do NOT recommend doing that however because that is not healthy and it completely taxes your body. One of the first things you will want to do to begin losing weight is to drink plenty of water. Your body is able to rid itself of toxins when you drink water. Also, if you drink water before a meal, you won’t eat as much because your body will think it’s already getting full. A great food to eat is watermelon because it’s 90% water, or so I’ve heard. Try eating fresh fruit instead of anything processed, like canned or cooked fruit. Eat as many vegetables as you would like.

Drink Water and Lose Weight

September 2nd, 2009

To me there is nothing more important than water. If you don’t drink enough water your body can literally shut down. It is vital that you drink water everyday, especially if you want to lose weight. Water is also very important for your kidneys. Do you drink a lot of alcohol? Do you eat too many fried foods? Water helps remove toxins from your body which in turn helps you shed those unwanted pounds. In the beginning it was difficult for me to drink more than a few sips of water at a time.

Giving up my daily soda pop was at times almost impossible. So consuming enough water was a slow going ordeal but I am finally up to 72 ounces of water a day. There are so many different thoughts on how much water is enough water. What I say is any water is better than no water. Once I stopped drinking soda and started drinking more water I began losing weight. So I know for a fact that with more water, more exercise and less soda pop and junk food, you will be on your way to a more healthy and thin you.

Diet Supplements

August 31st, 2009

I was in the health store the other day browsing the diet supplement section. I was absolutely flabbergasted at the sheer number of choices. How in the world would I ever be able to pick the right one? Some of my friends have taken diet supplements in the past so I decided to ask them what they liked about taking diet supplements. One of my friends came right out and said, “They don’t work!” I asked her why she thought they didn’t work and she told me that she didn’t lose any weight at all while she was taking them.

I asked her what she was doing in addition to taking the supplement and she said nothing. I began to wonder that maybe you need to do more than just taking a diet supplement. This is what I think: Pick a diet supplement that you think might work best for you (I suggest researching diet supplements online). Once you have selected a diet pill, make sure you add exercise into your day. I mean, come on, there isn’t a magic diet pill out there where all you have to do is pop it in your mouth and you’ll lose weight. If that were the case, we would all be skinny. No, you have to add exercise and a healthy diet. Drink lots of water too.
