I read an article the other day called Finding Your Way to a Healthier You which made me ponder whether or not I was doing what I needed to do to be as healthy as I possibly could. After reading the article I recognized that I am not eating as many fruits and vegetables as I should be eating. I learned that it is best if you are buying organic produce. Because so many pesticides and chemicals are used on fruits and vegetables, it is so much more healthy to buy foods that are organic.
When we cook our vegetables into a soft oblivion we are basically killing all of the nutrients. It is best to eat these in their natural state if at all possible. When we are buying meat we should be trying to buy the more lean cut. We don’t want to consume too much fat. Whole grains are so much better than processed or refined products. White sugar and white flour are soooo not good for you! On average people can gain as much as 10 pounds a year just by eating 100 calories a day more than they burn. It’s crazy! In just five short years, you could gain as much as 50 pounds!
